What a great surprise finding the Shaftesbury Lodge Dundee. Found myself unexpectedly in Dundee for the day and night. Really didn’t want to fork out on city centre prices but wanted a good rated Hotel and found the Shaftesbury Hotel Dundee by chance. It’s around a 25 minute (1.4mi) walk from train station. Please don’t let the 25 minute walk put you off. The walk takes you past some of Dundee’s best rated coffee shops along Perth Road on route to the Hotel. The money saved on city centre hotel prices allows you to stop by these gems of coffee shops. Arrived 2 hours before check in and the manager was super cool and friendly about it. The room looked really cozy and noticed a bed I wanted to jump into at 1pm but more about that later. Room is of Victorian design with high ceilings. Extremely clean, tidy and cozy. Kettle, coffee, galaxy drink, Pringles, bottled water and tasty biscuits all on offer. Smart TV with various apps. I had Netflix & BBC iPlayer on. Plenty of fresh towels and a great shower. Oh! The bed? Quite simply Heaven! Taken a note of the bedding and pillows and will try to recreate at home. Just finished the all Scottish breakfast (other tasty options are available). The 25 minute walk allows you to burn off the coffee shop treats and big breakfast. Best 25 minute walk in Dundee😀. Was embarrassed to have found the room rate at only £60. Sometimes you get lucky. If I’m back for the football again will seek out the Shaftesbury. Staff very friendly and polite! Thank You.

The house is beautiful. I would go as far as to say, it's luxurious. The room with lovely ensuite shower was enormous. The welcome tray went above and beyond. Staff were very friendly. The bed was super comfortable. There was a very good breakfast menu - everything was covered and the portions were extremely generous. Although some might prefer a central location - we were originally looking for one - we discovered we were much happier in this quieter location which nonetheless had lots of great looking bars and eateries close by.

Breakfast was quite simply amazing ... Fabulous choice and friendly servers. Room extras were fab too, was not expecting so many nibbles. Shampoo/conditioner smelled amazing, I wish I'd taken note of brand. Parking was good, we were literally 10 steps to door. I met people who use this hotel often when visiting family at local University and I can imagine myself being one of them now. Local bus service is available at end of street, although we didn't use. Local taxi service was friendly and knew where to go instantly.

It’s a charming older B & B in a residential area, a few blocks from a district with lots of restaurants and stores. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I liked that I could open the window to get some fresh air. Bathroom was spacious, with a very nice shower. The staff were quite helpful and kind. Breakfast in the dining room was included, which we didn’t expect, making this a truly good value. And the breakfast was exceptional!

Room was huge! Was like a mini flat (minus a cooker! 😂) Tea, coffee, snacks etc was very appreciated. Beds and bedding where comfy and cozy. Beautiful views. Quite a quirky room, with period features but so lovely and welcoming. Plenty street parking and very close to restaurants and local area. Price was good too. Didn't stay for breakfast as we had the kiltwalk to get to but would definitely recommend ❤️
